Thanksgiving weekend is finally over and we can now prepare for the last event of the season. An unofficial PGA Tour event, the Hero World Challenge takes place in Albany, Bahamas, December 2-5.

The tournament does not offer any cash prizes and is a fundraising event for the Tiger Woods Foundation. The charity aims to empower minorities, especially the most disadvantaged. It includes many platforms including the TGR Learning Labs, Genesis Open, The National, Tiger Jam, and of course, the Hero World Challenge.

Location and challenges of the Albany Golf Club, Bahamas

The course is an 18 hole championship course, designed by Ernie Els. A links and desert course, it is full of natural elements such as dunes and bodies of water. The scenic course is a feast for the eyes, and it compliments the top golfers who engage in it every year.

The luxury property is located in New Providence and has strategically placed water hazards throughout its length and has a minimum elevation of 5m and a maximum of 10m. The average score of winners over the past five years is just under 20.

Meanwhile, the 72-hole record is in 2014’s Jordan Spieth name with a 262, while Albany’s record is 263, set by Bubba Watson in 2015. The 18-hole record, on the other hand, is at named Rickie Fowler, a low 61 set in the fourth round in 2017.

Previous editions of the Hero World Challenge

The challenge has been played at the Albany Golf Club for the previous five versions. The 2020 edition was canceled, due to the covid-19 pandemic, but it came back stronger than ever with an increased field of 20 players. Moreover, Tiger Woods, the host of the event, will finally join the festivities after much speculation about his presence.

Dubai race winner Collin Morikawa and Olympic gold medalists Xander Sc Chaudele and Justin Rose will be at the start. In addition, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will also be on the field.
