What better way to get into the holly jolly spirit than by watching your favorite vacation shows?

Theaters reopen their doors for in-person performances just in time for the winter season. Here are some classic and not-so-average performances you can’t miss this year:

The Old Globe Theater:

How the Grinch Stole Dr Seuss Christmas
Nov 10 to Dec 31

Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is back live and in person for The Globe’s 24th annual production.

The show is open to children from three years old. Children under the age of three will not be allowed in the theater due to COVID-19 policies. All spectators must wear a mask.

Last year, the production of The Grinch’s Globe was presented by KPBS Radio as free audio production solely due to the coronavirus.

Tickets start at $ 19 per seat and can be purchased in line.

Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Christmas Show in San Diego

“Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show” is a comedy adaptation of Charles Dickens’ film A Christmas Carol. ”Dickens’ mash-up is filled with music and laughter in“ winter ”San Diego.

San Diego City Ballet

Nutcracker, California Center for the Arts Escondido
Wednesday December 22 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Thursday December 23 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Spin into the holiday season with the City Ballet Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker.”

Experience the Victorian-era story of the adventures of a young girl, her Nutcracker Prince and the Plum Fairy, told through theatrical dances to the famous score by Pyotr Tchaikovsky performed by the City Ballet Orchestra.

Balboa Theater

A Christmas Drag Queen
Friday December 3 at 8 p.m.

The Queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race from Logo TV arrive at the Balboa Theater this Christmas. The band will sing seasonal classics to immerse you in the cheeky holiday spirit.

Artists featured on the hit TV show include William, Denali, Jan Sport, Sasha Velor, Shea Coulee, and Miz Cracker.

Merry Christmas
Wednesday December 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Merry-achi Christmas hosts a celebration of the season featuring Mexican and American holiday traditions performed by Mariachi ensembles.

Mariachi Sol of Mexico, the Grammy-nominated troupe of Jose Hernadedez, will be headlining the event alongside the country’s first all-girl group, Mariachi Reyna of Los Angeles and her friends.

San Diego Gay Men’s Choir: Jingle!
Saturday December 11 at 8 p.m.
Sunday December 12 at 3 p.m.

The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus returns to the Balboa Theater with this year’s holiday show: Jingle!

The group, made up of nearly 180 singers and musicians, will perform their holiday favorites and you are invited to sing along.

Tickets start at $ 50 per seat and can be purchased in line.

Irish Christmas
Sunday December 19 at 2:30 p.m.

Create a new holiday tradition this year by celebrating the song and dance of Ireland. The Kerry Dance Troupe combines music, storytelling and dancing to create a true Irish Christmas.

The energetic performance will feature Celtic drums, flutes and tunes.

San Diego Civic Theater

A Magic Circus Christmas
Monday December 27 at 7:30 p.m.

A Magical Circus Christmas is sure to have something for everyone to get into the holiday spirit. The variety show features circus acts, Christmas carols, dancing and more.

Sparkling costumes, sets and lights will transport you to the “golden age” of Christmas.

Tickets start at $ 58 per seat and can be purchased in line.

Mannheim Steam Roller
Thursday December 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Mannheim Steamroller released their first holiday album in 1984 and has since become a Christmas tradition.

This year’s show will feature musical styles ranging from Gregorian chant and medieval-style compositions to orchestral pop tinged with electric synth.

You can expect snow machines, dancers, and a lot of seasonal spirit from the all-American band.

The San Diego Maritime Museum

Yo-ho-ho it’s a pirate’s life for kids of all ages at the San Diego Maritime Museum. Perhaps the hidden treasure of the holiday season is the return of “Boarded!” an interactive live pirate show.

Climb aboard the pirate ship and join the ship’s crew, learn to sail the tumultuous seas, sword fight with your siblings, escape from the king’s prison and keep your ship afloat.

Tickets cost $ 60 for adults and $ 25 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased in line.
